Plymouth Bar & Grill

My parents are in town this weekend and on Friday night we took them to dinner at Plymouth's rooftop bar. It is fairly close to our place and I had purchased a groupon awhile ago and have been waiting for some company to come into town so we would have a good excuse to use it. Although there are other more swanky rooftop bar/restaurants in the city with much better views, this one is still fun and I'm glad we tried it out. Their menu had countless options, all of which looked good and even had a couple tvs so we could keep up with the Cubs vs. Cards game. The views were still great of the nearby buildings and who doesn't love eating on a patio 20+ stories high? The bar had numerous fans and even some spray misters to ensure we wouldn't get to hot. This made me feel like I was in California (bonus)! The prices were fairly reasonable and the atmosphere was fairly laid back. But perhaps my favorite part was their mural on the wall of 12 famous people who were all born in Chicago (Oprah, Jennifer Hudson, John Belushi, John Cusack, Bernie Mac, Michelle Obama, etc.).

My parents only complaint was that it was a little too loud for them, which unfortunately is how most bars in Chicago operate.

For more information, see Plymouth's Bar & Restaurant, go to their website.

They have a cool neon sign on the side of the building that I managed to forget to take a photo of, but here it is (in the day time, not as cool) from last summer. The bar is in the lower right hand corner. Oh yah, the big eyeball was apart of last summer's art installation (similar to this year's Go Do Good art installation).

  1. The eye ball is really awesome, huh? This year's Go Do Good art installation was cool just because it promoted volunteering and doing good for others, but when it comes to actual art, you can't really beat this. It was HUGE! Now whenever we go past that space, it always seems like something is missing...

For a size comparison, there is a man laying down on the grass on the left side, it was crazy big (and hard to ever get a shot of it without someone in the frame)
